there have been quite a good amount of bands that I've discovered and really loved this year. It could be that I appreciate hard working bands more than ever, it could be that there is actually a good, large pool of new music to chose from.
I'm a shuffle junkie. I like to break up my constant playlist by popping in a few full lengths every day if possible. Darker My Love is one of the bands that, every time a track pops up in shuffle, I have to stop whatever I'm doing and look to see who it is. And then I want to listen to the full album. It's because every track is a little different but all of them familiar. I've never been a Grateful Dead fan and this Darker My Love makes me appreciate the very Dead-esque harmonies that I just can't deny. Then other tracks, they sound like a mellow, much less nasally version of Spoon. And you can tell the singer must have sung along with a lot Traveling Wilburys but liked George the best; odd diction. Very transcendental feeling in the feedback sometimes. I think any Beatles fan would like this too, makes me feel like I want to walk down Carnaby with Paul McCartney. I also feel like this album should be on cassette. It's just all lovely, poppy, harmonizing tunes. Easy on the subconscious. Uh oh, there goes my stream of conscious again... Thank you 2010 for the gift of Darker My Love. feels like my little secret. for now.
